Data Science/Machine Learning: explore artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analysis and their real-world applications across science, society, and beyond

Biomedical Health Sciences: study human health & physiology, medicine, molecular/cell biology, and public health through topics such as disease, genetics, neuroscience, and healthcare innovation

Environmental Science: investigate the fundamental laws of the natural world through chemistry, physics, astronomy, and earth sciences

Cognitive Science: examine human behavior, society, and culture through psychology, anthropology, and sociology

Economics: study of choices; economic principles, game theory, and behavioral economics

Eligibility: Incoming 11th, 12th, or college 1st-2nd years with prior research experience

Description:

• Co-lead a research cohort of consisting of a co-mentor and several mentees by designing your curriculum, running virtual sessions, and guiding your team throughout the program’s phases

• Gain experience in teaching, leadership, and research

• Expected time commitment: 20-25 hours per week throughout the program

Eligibility: Incoming 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, or recently graduated high school students not yet attending college

Description:

• Learn about real-world interdisciplinary topics through guided sessions and discussions

• Work in a team to plan, research, and build a project

• Expected time commitment: 15-20 hours per week throughout the program

CSR-x exists to make rigorous academic research accessible to high school students who have not had the opportunity yet. Designed and led primarily by high school and college students, we give students the tools, mentorship, and community to engage with real research and carry that experience forward.

We look for students who bring genuine curiosity about a specific topic, a willingness to ask hard questions, and an openness to collaboration. The strongest applicants demonstrate authenticity, intellectual drive, and a real desire to contribute to something beyond themselves.

CSR-x alumni go on to pursue research at academic institutions, participate in science fairs, and strengthen their college applications with meaningful research and leadership experience. Many continue building on the network and relationships they formed through the program.
